Use Hut Finder in Claude and ChatGPT

Ask your AI assistant which DOC huts have space, check a whole trip night by night, and manage your availability alerts without leaving the chat. Hut Finder can’t book huts: every answer includes the DOC booking link. New to connectors? Read our guide, with a worked example.

Set up in Claude

1Open Hut Finder in Claude’s connector directory, signed in to Claude, and connect it. (If you ask Claude about huts first, it may suggest Hut Finder in the chat; accepting that works too.)
2No sign-in to Hut Finder is needed yet; Claude asks when you first use alerts, your account, or dates more than 14 days ahead.
3In a chat, make sure Hut Finder is turned on under Connectors in the + menu, then ask a question.

Set up in ChatGPT

1In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps and search for Hut Finder.
2If it isn’t listed yet, turn on Developer mode under Advanced settings, choose Create, and paste https://dochutfinder.com/mcp as the server URL.
3Leave authentication on OAuth and save. No sign-in is needed yet.
4In a chat, pick Hut Finder from the + menu (or mention it by name), then ask a question.

Menu names can differ slightly between ChatGPT plans and versions.

Get a hut’s details, facilities and a night-by-night calendar. Hut Finder checks DOC live when you ask about a single hut.

Check a trip

Check every night of a multi-hut trip or a Great Walk itinerary for your party size, with DOC booking links.

After you connect your account

Alerts and your account

When you ask for something that needs your account, the assistant shows a sign-in card. Sign in with the email code you use on the website, approve access once, and the assistant carries on.

Your plan and limits

See your plan, how far ahead you can check, and how many alerts you have against your limit.

Hut alerts

Create an alert for one or more huts, list your alerts, or cancel one. The rules and limits match the website exactly.

Trip alerts

Watch a whole track itinerary for a date window. Available on accounts that include trip alerts on the website.

Dates further ahead

Accounts with Hut Finder Pro can check dates up to 12 months ahead, the same as on the website.

Cancelling an alert always asks you to confirm first. Alerts created from a chat are the same alerts you see on your Alerts page, and they email you the same way.

Data freshness and privacy

When you ask about one hut, Hut Finder checks DOC live (a check from the last 5 minutes is reused). Searches and multi-hut results may be cached, so ask about a specific hut for a live result. Always confirm on DOC before you book.

Hut Finder receives only the details of each request (such as hut, dates and party size) and never stores your conversation. Your assistant’s provider handles the chat itself. See the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Disconnect

Remove access at any time

From Hut Finder

Sign in on the website, open Account → Connected apps, and choose Disconnect next to Claude or ChatGPT. Access stops straight away, except that a chat already in progress can keep working for up to an hour.

From your assistant

Remove or disconnect Hut Finder in Claude’s Connectors settings or ChatGPT’s Apps settings. Your Hut Finder account and alerts stay as they are.

Troubleshooting

If something isn’t working

The assistant answers without using Hut Finder

Make sure the connector is turned on for the conversation (in Claude, open the + menu in the message box and check Connectors), then ask again and mention Hut Finder by name.

It asks me to sign in

Sign-in is only needed for alerts, your account, or dates beyond 14 days. Approve the sign-in card, enter the code we email you, and the assistant carries on with your request.

The sign-in code email hasn’t arrived

Check your spam or promotions folder for a message from Hut Finder, then request a new code. Use the same email address as your Hut Finder account so your alerts and plan carry over.

It keeps asking me to reconnect

Your connection may have been disconnected or expired. In Claude, remove Hut Finder in Customize → Connectors and add it again from Claude’s directory. In ChatGPT, remove and re-add it using the same URL. Sign in once more when prompted.

The availability doesn’t match DOC

Search and multi-hut results may be cached. Ask the assistant to check that specific hut for a live result from DOC, and always confirm on the DOC booking page before you book.

Dates more than 14 days ahead are refused

Without an account, availability covers the next 14 days. Accounts with Pro can check further ahead after signing in.
